Coronation celebrations are well underway in Malvern, from The Malvern Well Dressing Festival and coronation themed afternoon teas to singing in the choir, festivities promise to be fit for a King.
Coronation themed afternoon tea
In celebration of King Charles III’s coronation, The Cottage in the Wood Malvern is serving a wonderfully indulgent royal afternoon tea throughout the month of May.
Exuding regal elegance, guests will be served in the hotel’s 1919 restaurant. The classic English afternoon tea promises a feast of delectable savoury treats such as delicate finger sandwiches and coronation chicken paired with freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam and selection of exquisite classic cakes and pastries. To compliment this special afternoon tea, the Cottage in the Wood has handpicked a selection of English sparkling wines. Guests can treat themselves to a glass of sparkling wine from Woodchester Vineyard or a bottle of award-winning English Sparkling Wine from Nyetimber.

Malvern Well Dressing Festival
This annual event celebrates the history of the Malvern Hills, from its iconic spring water and Victorian Water Cure to the area’s ancient Pagan traditions. Held from 29 April to 7 May 2023, this year will see many local water features such as wells, springs and spouts creatively decorated in the theme of ‘Kings & Queens’. Visitors can view the wonderful creations by setting off across the hills on foot, by bicycle or on a self-drive tour.

Coronation Day Evensong
Join Great Malvern Priory Choir on 6 May for an evening of Choral Evensong to celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation. Music will include Zadok the Priest by Handel, Evening Canticles in D by Dyson and a new work, The King shall Rejoice, by Piers Maxim.
