Cottage in the Wood Christmas

“It was a cold, winter night and guests at The Cottage in the Wood had just settled down for a night of comfort and serenity, tainted only by the inexorable excitement and anticipation for the morning ahead. With stomachs full and cocktails aplenty, a welcomed calmness fell over the hills as an evening of melodic festivities drew to a close.” – an extract from Malvern’s Mystic Premonition Memoirs.

Tom Edwards

Meet Tom, our revenue & business manager here at The Cottage in the Wood. Tom was named Revenue Manager of the Year at the Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Stars Awards in London on Tuesday 16 October, which we’re absolutely delighted about! Tom is the go-to person here for anything to do with tech and numbers. His maths degree helps, but he clearly has a talent for hospitality, too, producing successful outcomes from room rate setting, maintaining and upgrading tech systems, marketing support, and doing the accounts and payroll.

Modest by nature and very down to earth, we had a chat with Tom about his unexpected career in hospitality so far.

Malvern Hills

Be surprised and delighted by what you can discover in The Malverns in the autumn.

Enjoy local produce, visit historical gems and stride the hills, which turn into a vast palette of red, gold and orange hues.

Movement for Modern Life

We’ve recently introduced a range of on-demand yoga lessons to guests’ televisions in partnership with the incredible Movement for Modern Life, ensuring your stay at The Cottage in the Wood is as relaxing as possible with just a tap of the remote. The enlightening yoga and wellbeing site hosts over 800 classes from some of the UK and beyond’s top teachers and has been called the ‘Netflix of yoga’ by Vogue.

Here, the founder of MFML, Kat Farrants, details her top tips for establishing moments of calm when you’re on the road:

Malvern Hills

“It is a surprising and memorable, as well as valuable experience, to be lost in the woods any time” – Henry David Thoreau

The Malvern Hills provide the perfect place for walkers of all abilities to escape for a stroll in the fresh air. With an abundance of staggeringly picturesque walks across rolling hills and meadows, the Malverns offer miles of pastures to stretch your legs in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Here at The Cottage in the Wood, we pride ourselves on delivering quality throughout your visit. Whether you’re sipping a cocktail in the in-vogue 1919 Bar, dining in the elegant Georgian style restaurant or a resident for a long weekend, we strive to provide you with an exquisite experience. And therefore we have chosen Pol Roger as our house champagne, upholding excellence since the 1850s.

The Cottage Salad

Looking for a quick lunch that wasn’t made in haste?

The new S menu at The Cottage in the Wood offers guests the perfect balance between a light, quick bite and punchy flavours, carefully created from locally-sourced ingredients. Why not enjoy a break from the office with sandwiches, salads and sharers, and amazing views over the Severn Valley.

Our very own expert sommelier, Gianluca, who trained with Michel Roux Snr has been on the hunt for the best wines in the area. Gianluca has selected Hay Wines as one of the wine suppliers for 1919 Restaurant & Bar and we find out their top tips for picking the best summer wine.

Here at The Cottage in the Wood we love local. Whether it’s fresh seafood and high-quality meat, local wine or even our water, we believe local sourcing provides the freshest ingredients that our regular diners keep coming back for. We work closely with local suppliers and producers to source the highest quality ingredients for your enjoyment.

In this series of blogs, we’ll be getting to know our suppliers a little bit better and finding out what makes them so special, starting with world-famous water suppliers Holywell.

Do you prefer meat or fish? Or maybe something vegetarian?!

The new summer menu at The Cottage in the Wood has been carefully designed so there is something for everyone.

Are you hungry for a good steak? Then the locally sourced single breed and of course top quality Hereford steak served with hand cut, triple cooked chips is sure to satisfy! You can have it with the traditional sauces or go for something a bit different like the Argentinian chimichurri sauce traditionally served with steak and so tasty you will want to jump on a plane straight to Argentina to try it in its home country.

Malvern Observer’s Vivienne Hill and her sidekick Mr K recently dined at The Cottage in the Wood Restaurant, which is uniquely set high on the Malvern Hills above the Severn Plain.

Although residents of Malvern, this was our first dining experience at The Cottage in the Wood; however, following our exquisite dining experience it certainly won’t be the last.

#easter on Instagram for images of chocolate bunnies, eggs and icing sugar daffodils. The colours are pink and yellow and the feelings are of Spring.

On Facebook HuffPostReligion references the English proverb to inspire those on lent: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly”.

It is Spring and Easter is the butterfly!

Mothers are the best. There’s just nothing more to say. It would be impossible to describe everything they do for us, their children, without writing a list that would simply go on forever.

So how do we say thanks?

Mothering Sunday is on the 6th of March this year. For some people this is a good time to give a gift simply as a gesture of recognition for everything Mothers do.
But how do you choose the gift?
